The CEP (Código de Endereçamento Postal) is the postal code used in Brazil. It is formed by 8 Arabic numbers plus hyphen.

The first digit indicates the region, the next ones indicate respectively sub-region, sector, sub-sector and divider of sub-sector. The three last digits after the hyphen are the distribution identifiers.
