In Portuguese Contribution to the National Institute of Colonization and Land Reform is named Contribuição ao Instituto Nacional de Colonização e Reforma Agrária and often referred to by the abbreviation INCRA .

INCRA works to promote land reform in a fair and systematic way.

The institution also manages the national registry of rural properties, maintains public lands, as well as, identifies and records boundaries and holds land for the settlements and traditional Quilombos.

For the maintenance and financing of this institution the INCRA contribution is calculated based on the payroll for workers of certain rural industries and agro-industries, including cooperatives. The contribution is calculated at a 0.2% rate.
