Fees charged by Brazilian Boards of Trade
The Brazilian Boards of Trade provide a variety of services to commercial entities that operate in Brazil, however most of the services are not free. In this article you will find out about the fees charged by these government bodies.
In Brazil, the Juntas Comerciais, or Boards of Trade are the authorities responsible for the registration, certification and publishing of documents filed by business owners, business entities and cooperative partnerships in the State. In total, there are 27 Board of Trades in the country, one for each State plus one for the Federal District.
Services Provided by the Board of Trade
The Boards of Trade, which are often abbreviated to JUCEXX, where the letters XX corresponds to the state abbreviation, maintain their headquarters in the capital city of their respective States, but there are many offices and service stations throughout each State. These bodies are responsible for publishing, authenticating, and guaranteeing that the legal acts of commercial companies are properly registered, filed and are kept updated.
In addition, the Boards of Trade also handle the registration of professionals who provide services for commercial companies, such as sworn translators, auctioneers, official interpreters among others. The issuance of a CNPJ, which was previously done exclusively by Receita Federal, also started to be a responsibility of the Boards of Trade.
Fees Charges by Juntas Comerciais
Most services provided by Juntas Comerciais are not free of charge. The fees vary depending on the State where the Board of Trade is located. Just to give a parameter, the table below shows the prices for services provided by JUCESP, the São Paulo Board of Trade, published in March 2015.
DARE is the state collection document that must be paid for the State, while DARF is the Federal State collection. In some cases both DARE and DARF must be collected, while in other cases – for example for foreign companies – only one has to be paid.
