Abimed is the Associação Brasileira da Indústria de Alta Tecnologia de Equipamentos, Produtos e Suprimentos Médico-Hospitalares, which is the Brazilian Association of Industry of Advanced Technology Medical and Hospital Equipment, Products and Suppliers. The association was created in 1996 as an entity that comprises companies of advanced technology in the areas of production, importation, exportation and distribution of medical and hospital products.
Abimed was born from the ideal of a group of companies that had the vision to found an organization that effectively represented the advancement of medical technology companies and contributed to the advancement of medicine in the country. At Abimed makes part of all discussions involving:
- surveillance
- incorporation of technology in health products
- certification of companies regarding good manufacturing practices and control
- and certification of the electrical medical products of this companies
Abimed has representation in the federal district to expedite contacts in Brasilia to obtain information and for forwarding documents. The support facilitates and streamlines the communication between the entity and the competent organizations, given the importance of the decisions of the various governmental organizations and the performance of the companies associated with Abimed.
