Main Exhibition Venues in São Paulo

On average there is one event every six minutes in São Paulo and 75% of the largest exhibitions in the country take place in the city, which has several exhibition venues available. In this article we will look at the city's major exhibition venues.

São Paulo is the largest metropolis in the country and one of the largest in the world, often known as the city that never stops. There are about 90 000 events per year ranging from conferences, trade shows, conventions, international shows, big parties amongst others. The city has a variety of congress centers and the largest hotel industry in the country.

According to FIPE, which is the Institute of Economic Research, market fairs and events are responsible for BRL 16.3 billion in revenue in the city annually. Below are the main venues where these events are held in São Paulo.

Transamerica Expo Center

The Transamerica Expo Center is part of an integrated center for business and entertainment which includes, besides the exhibition venues, the Hotel Transamerica São Paulo and the Teatro Alfa.

This exhibition center is one of the largest in São Paulo with a total area of 100 000 m² and an available area for rent of 40 000 m². Its structure has seven modular halls and separate entrances, so it can accommodate up to seven simultaneous events. It also has two mezzanines, a foyer and parking with 2 000 spaces, of which 500 are underground.

The Transamerica Expo Center is located in the southern region of São Paulo, 12 km from Congonhas Airport.

Anhembi

The Anhembi is managed by São Paulo Turismo, known as SPTuris, which is a tourism and events company based in São Paulo. Opened in 1970, it is one of the largest in Latin America. With an area covering over 400 000 m², Anhembi hosts 30% of the main events taking place in Brazil and 55% of the events in the southeast of the country.

The structure of the Anhembi is composed of the Exhibition Pavilion, the Palace of Conventions and the Sambadrome. The complex is located in the Santana district, north of São Paulo next to two of São Paulo’s major highways, the Marginal Tietê and Santos Dumont Avenue. Anhembi has the largest car park in São Paulo, having more than 6 500 vacancies and capacity for 13 000 vehicles circulating per day.

Expo Center Norte

The exhibition and convention center Expo Center Norte is part of the Cidade Center Norte business complex. Also part of this complex is the Shopping Center Norte, Shopping Lar Center and the hotel network Novotel.

The Expo Center Norte is located in the north of São Paulo, next to the Bus Terminal Tietê and 13 km from Guarulhos International Airport. The venue has a total area of 98 000 m² and 76 447 m² of exhibition space. Expo Center Norte has 5 pavilions with independent entrances, so it can hold five events simultaneously.

It also has a convention center with 23 rooms with a total capacity for 4 500 people simultaneously, with optional use of all areas. The Expo Center Norte has parking for 4 000 spaces.

São Paulo Expo

This exhibition center is currently under renovation with an expected expansion of 150% of the area. It is located at Rodovia dos Imigrantes, 3 km from Congonhas Airport. The São Paulo Expo has 100 000 m² with six auditoriums with two more under construction.

All the pavilions and rooms are modular and have capacity to hold several events simultaneously. The parking facilities have capacity for more than 4.5 thousand cars.

Centro de Convenções Frei Caneca

The Convention Center Frei Caneca is located next to Avenida Paulista and currently provides 10 500 m² of exhibition area. It is divided into two floors, with modular rooms to accommodate up to 3 800 sitting places. Frei Caneca Theater can also be used as an auditorium and has 600 seats. The car park has 1 000 indoor spaces.

WTC Events Center

The WTC Events Center is part of the World Trade Center complex, also composed of the Sheraton São Paulo WTC Hotel. Altogether it has approximately 12 000 m², divided into 60 flexible spaces where large events or small business meetings can take place.

Among the areas of the WTC Events Center there is the WTC Ballroom with 1 200 m², which can be divided into four rooms, surrounded by large foyers for coffee breaks and assembly of booths. The space also has a theater with 526 seats.

In the WTC Events Center there is also the Golden Hall, a multifunctional space, with over 3 000 m² of free space that allows numerous possibilities for hosting your event, as it can accommodate up to 2500 people.
