7.5% unemployment rate in October
The unemployment rates remained stable in October (7.5%) and September 2008(7.6%). In comparison to October 2007, when the rate reached 8.7%, it is possible to identify decrease of 1.2 percentage points.
The data is estimated based on a Monthly Employment Survey in six metropolitan areas of Brazil. This is a different approach compared to what you will find in many other countries where the data is based on numbers from central employment registers.
