Boom on mobile phone subscriptions

According to a new research published by Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency), during October 2008, over 4 million new mobile phone subscriptions were registered in Brazil. This number turns 2008 into the best year for the mobile telecommunications industry, with the subscription growth rate of nearly 20% in only 10 months. These numbers consolidates Brazil’s 5th position on the raking of countries with the most mobile phone users, having 144.795.618 subscriptions. That is 75,24% of the total brazilian population.

The research also points that Vivo is still Brasil’s biggest mobile phone operator, with a market share of 29,74% , followed by Claro with 25,31%, and TIM (24,70% ).
