I would like to know about the process of exporting/importing to Brazil. My questions would be the following: - Upon my product arriving to a port in Rio de Janeiro, are there companies/services/agents who could carry out all the required procedures (paperwork, customs, taxes, import duties) for a fee? (I do not have a business and am hesitant to contact distributors as eventually we would like to distribute ourselves.) - What would be the limit (depending on the product of course) that I could bring into the country without having a business set up in Brazil? Ideally, myself and my partner (who is a Brazilian national) wish to get a sample of our product into Brazil, so we can begin distributing/marketing and establish whether we do have a market to sell our product. Then based on our findings we will know whether to open a business, start creating a business plan etc. We need assistance with the first steps to getting our product into Brazil I appreciate there may be a fee for your services, if so, what would be your fees based on the information I need? Any information whatsoever would be much appreciated, I thank you for you time.
I am looking for the database of Tools importer in Brazil, is there any public database can find out from Internet, ie. customs, goverment etc. Thanks a lot.

Does anyone know of a database or search engine that is accurate in estimating these costs in question? I have seen the tax rate databse herein, however a broker has told me the cost would be much higher than the corresponding tax rates I have seen here. Here are some of the HS codes I would be importing; 6202.11.0000, 6205.20.3000,6201.93.0000, 6211.33.0000, 6207.22.0000, 6207.21.0000, 6204.62.4013, 6205.30.2085, 6110.20.1010, 6103.42.0000, 6204.63.3200, 6203.43.5010, 6202.13.2010, 6204.63.3550, 6202.93.0000, 6201.92.0000, 6110.11.0010, 6110.20.1023, 6201.13.5000, 6201.13.2010, 6201.93.0000, 6211.43.0000, 4105.30.0000, 6211.42.0000, 6202.12.3000, 6211.32.0000, 6110.20.1027. I know this is a diverse load, it is a sample load as I am trying to gauge what will be in demand in Brasil. More to the point, is there any reason why USD 3K of this merchandise should accumulate USD 8.5K in duties, taxes and shipping(air freight)? If not does anyone know of a good customs broker? Last question, what would be a 'ballpark' figure to expect on 3K USD of this type of product? Thanks in advance, Alex

Our company (iTi) sells a software solution framework called Ekho. It is widely used in Pulp & Paper, Mining & Metals, Oil & Gas, Food & Beverage, Chemicals, and in Renewable Energy (Wind, Solar, Biofuels). The software is used to address a wide range of functions in operations, including Production, Downtime, Quality, Maintenance, Health & Safety, Energy Management, etc. The key benefit of the software lies in our ability to: * to extract real time data from the Operations * to analyze this data and prepare Performance Analytics – generating Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), and statistics for Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and * providing information to support real time decision making. The Ekho software is not only an integrated functional solution for Operations, but it provides a platform for generating Operational Intelligence, which can be used in performance improvement and/or continuous improvement initiatives. For more details, please see http://www.inexcontech.com. Implementation of the software involves agreements for three different components: * Software licenses – sale of a perpetual license for use of the software (the intellectual property) by the customer. * Implementation Services – delivery of professional services for Project Management, Software Installation and Configuration, Training, and Implementation Support. * Continuing Support – providing ongoing services for software support, including bug fixing, operating a help desk, and providing upgrades to the software over time. It is anticipated that the Implementation and Support Services will initially be provided by iTi, from our offices in Canada or the USA, but over time, these skills will be developed within a local partner company in Brazil. So the bottom line questions are * What are the import taxes payable on the above components relating to our intellectual property? * What are the best ways to minimize taxation on the importing of these items? * What are the best ways to minimize taxation on these items over time, by cooperating with a Brazilian partner?
